Finally Finished...Now Where's That Baby?

Update:
Here is a picture of the Pressies all wrapped up and ready to go.
Amelia Grace was born at 12:47am on 4th May 2010 she was 4350gms (9lbs 9.4 oz) 53cm long.
Mother and Daughter doing very well.

Well I have finally finished the little blankie for Sal and Glen's bubby girl...ETA ??? like many women she is late...

I got the idea for the blankie from a site that one of the ladies from our craft group posted...

of course I just did it how I wanted and did not put as many little animals on it.

I think it looks beautiful and should be a very good size for laying bubs on the bed.

As you can see in the main picture I also made a very cute pink owl. she can be used to play with but I think she is a beautiful decorative toy. I also attached some ribbon to a lovely white hand towel. and there is also a lovely little sleep suit with matching bonnet. I am sure Sal will love the gifts...I know I had such fun making them with great love. Sal and Glen have 2 very handsome young boys and now with a darling girl on the way their family will be complete.

they are very lovely people and care deeply for the children in Guillin China, which is evident in the efforts they make to raise funds for an orphanage there.

I have not wrapped the gift basket yet but when I do I will post an update.

Happy sewing all...will see you on the other side of the sewing machine...

FREE Tote Bag Tutorial...Give It A Go.

Well the very lovely Khris of "Sew Prim Khris" has made a tutorial for a tote bag.
here's what she says about it...
"This tote bag is done slightly different to the standard tote where you make the outer bag and then the lining and pop one inside the other. You actually sew one lining to one outer fabric and then sew them all together after putting on pockets and handles".
Click on the image and it will take you to her page where you can download the PDF tutorial.
let her know if you make it and maybe even send her some pictures of your bag once made.
Thanks heaps Khris for making this tutorial for us and for sharing it for FREE.
Don't you just love it when people in the wider crafting community SHARE their many talents...but isn't it a very sad thing that sometimes there are people out there who take advantage of the generosity of talented people. it has has come to my attention recently that there is a site selling patterns for various dolls etc and claiming them as their own. there is no mistake as it is blatantly obvious they are rip offs from not a few but very many talented people. Some of the copyright breaches are including patterns put out by major pattern companies.
All I can say is if you find something on the net or you buy a pattern, Respect the talented person who created the design by acknowledging them as the creator of the pattern.

Well Well Well...here's something I can show you.

I have been thinking of making a nice Apron for myself for ages...well after Diana posted a link on our group for some online freebies I could not resist and had to run out and buy the fabric for my very first apron...I intend to wear this apron all the time just like Grandma did...hehehe.

I love the thought of a gorgeous apron covering my everyday clothes while I cook and clean. why did we ever stop wearing these lovely little treasures.

I will post again once I have sorted out exactly which apron I will make. so for now here is a sneek peek at the fabric I bought to make it with from my favourite store Bargain Box fabrics in Ipswich. the pink is for the inside and the floral is for the outside.

Happy Sewing

Finally Motivated with Inspiration.

Finally Motivated, found the inspiration I needed and now I cannot show you any pictures of what I am sewing at present because it is for a Mothers Day swap we are doing on our Craft Group and I don't want to spoil it for My swapee.

Being motivated and getting into sewing in the last days I have of the school holidays is fun.
I have to make a little trip to spotlight for supplies that I can only get from there.
My washing machine is whirring like a jumbo jet at present, thought I would take advantage of the weather and get the pile of washing done while I can...I need to start the next term off on the right foot and have nothing to distract me from school work with Elijah.
Mind you I need to find the table under all the sewing piled on top of it...we share a large table, during school hours its for school and after it's my sewing layout table, yes I have a need to spread everything out in front of me when sewing and crafting. my actual table with the sewing machines on it is nice and neatly tucked under the window so I can see out as I sew away.
I feel a bit of a challenge to try and perfect my scone making skills coming on this afternoon. a lovely Friend mentioned making them and I realised I have not made them for years because I failed at making them nicely all that time ago, so this afternoon I am going to make a nice afternoon tea for my family of scones with jam and cream and a lovely cup of tea.
will post if successful.
Have a great weekend Dear Friends out there in blogland...don't forget...
"To stitch and sew is to leave a little piece of yourself behind in this world for evermore".

"Waiting for Inspiration"

I have been away for a trip to Mackay Qld to visit my Dad in hospital. hopefully not the last time I see Him before He passes.

I had the great pleasure to meet one of my blog followers Elizabeth while in Mackay. it was so very nice to meet Her in person, keep up the good craft Elizabeth..

So I am home now and waiting for inspiration to come...I know if I keep myself busy I can not dwell on the situation.

What inspires Me? well looking at all the lovely things people are making and all the gorgeous fabrics out there in Blogland.

I love Teapots and Teacups so I am thinking about that at the moment...what to make...what to make.

we are in the middle of school holidays at the moment and so my time is MINE again and I should be able to spend a good amount of time in the sewing room.

just waiting for inspiration to come.

I will keep you all updated on the progress of my week.
